It's What We Are

that it just is, right now, and can't be any other way - and through this we come to find compassion. Each moment always holds exactly what is given, there is no point of exclusion ever reached. It's simply what is. To know this, to see the natural acceptance of every thought, emotion, reaction, and event that occurs through life - is to find a gentle note of how it all belongs. Belonging doesn't mean that it all fits without our plans, or it meets our agreement, or that we wish for things to be other than they are - it only means that for now, for this moment, life has brought us here and all that's found right now. In this light, compassion is not a choice, no act of will, but an alignment with what is naturally occurring. Compassion isn't what we do - it's what we are. Without even having to try. Once this is seen, our world becomes a bit softer, more gentle - with ourselves and others. We only need to recognize what's happening each moment. It's a compassionate life after all.
