The Tree of My Belonging

it could have been anything, indeed, it absolutely is all things - yet for this moment it was simply a single tree of my belonging, an invitation to again see myself in giving capacity for something else to be. This was the sudden recognition of myself in varied form, that I belonged now as much to forest, streams, and every length of field as I did to my own life before. It was a sense beyond connection, not two things seen as a relationship brought together, but that there was always, and only this one belonging, everything lending itself full to the completion of another. Truly, just one thing. It could have been anything- but for this moment, this offering, it was the tree of my belonging.
