Poem from Elizabeth Allen

I started my day today reading a beautiful poem my dear friend Elizabeth wrote as a tribute to my mother who has recently passed away. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful, caring friend. Thank you Elizabeth - I love you!

Bitter Sweet

The bitter sweet of life --

Birth and Death.

Pleasure and Pain

The pains of labor and birth,

bringing forth the Joy of life.

Two sides of the same coin.

There would be no bitter with out the sweet.

The joy of your in my life,

Creates the pain and suffering

From your loss, missing you,

You, one I Love -- so dear

Mother -- Father

Son -- Daughter

Brother -- Sister

My Love -- My friend

How I miss you --

The pain of watching your suffering --

days, weeks, months and years.

The bitter sweet of your passing --

release --

from the physical -- emotional

from Earthly pain and suffering

Form darkness into light

prison to freedom.

Moving onward --

Memories

of happiness and sweet healthy times,

day's weeks, months and years with you.

Glad to see your suffering end,

Glad to see your suffering end,

Yet sad -- missing you -- here.

Even though a part of you was already gone

Now -- mourning the loss of the time

without you really here ... your suffering,

The bitter ... reluctantly accepted

as the sweet was so cherished

There couldn't be ... the sweet,

without the bitter.

Dedicated to Eric and his mother -- and all who have lost or witnessed the suffering of a loved one.
