Running As Expansion

Running is an act of expansion - we seek to know ourselves as no less than the distance that we cover. We gain a taste of the infinite while in finite form. Distance is a reflection of our own spacious nature - it's our own Self stretched before us in contoured disguise. We run to experience ourselves as both runner and the path. It's the glimpse of Self in many forms.

Elements Of Running

Running brings us to unity. Our steps no longer seem to strike the ground yet lay themselves in gentle offering. We are welcomed by the earth. Running breaks us down to our essential elements - we are air, earth and spirit and now recognized as of the source. We're beyond the thought of separation. We give ourselves in step and breath and then received by earth and air. This is the only true cycle of our existence - the one in continuation of the One in an endless fashion.

Eric

The Faith Of Falling (The Metaphysics of Running)

We just let go. Running is the faith of falling - we believe in the pull of gravity and presence of the earth. It's the trust of a single step repeated over distance. It's how we arrive. Our faith brings us to the edge- we lean into our stride until only the free fall of pure motion remains. We know there is magic in the air - a sphere of unseen connection between steps and earth. We never fall alone. Our steps are guided to the ground.
By letting go - we run.

Eric

Running And Our Essential State Of Being

Each breath taken is left to the past. No breath is anticipated. Our steps are given to the earth. Nothing is left but the moment. Running is the art of losing. We seek emptiness of all save the essentials of Being. Distance strips us to breath, step and spirit. Ego and will belong to the span of flesh and soon give way to the natural limits of mind and body. Spirit is limitless - the Source of which all creation will rise and fall. We run long distances to fall back in spirit. We aren't driven to see if we can finish a distance - we are inspired to find how far we may go. Drive is finite. Inspiration if infinite. We run because we are infinitely inspired.
And that is our essential state of Being.

Eric

Running To The Abyss

We are offered transcendence. To follow steps through time and distance and our own spacious mind. Running takes us to the far end of who we are - we are left faced with an abyss and the dare of one more step. We run to go beyond the confines of self and explore a borderless world. The abyss is no more than the edge of self and the infinite stretched as distance. It's true home.

Eric

Karmic Tracks

We give our steps to snow - a moment tracked through time. There is evidence of our passing. Every run is recorded somewhere. Our bodies hold the karmic detail of steps taken and what the sky and ground have given in return. We are shaped by earth and air.

Eric

Running As Surrender

There is faith in letting go. Our every step is a surrender to the weight of gravity and presence of the ground. We have cultivated a relationship with the earth based upon a lifetime of steps. We run distance in the trust of our surrender. Running is faith demonstrated.
We let go - certain of steps and earth and
our connection.

Eric

Running As An Act Of Power

It's not merely running - it's a ritual of purpose. Our steps are laid with care and meaning. We are joining ourselves with the earth. We are using our breath to commune with the sky. Running is our conversation with the world. It's the subtle language of spirit spoken in steps and distance. We run to announce our presence as motion and life.
It's not merely running - it's an act of power.

Eric

Running And The Law Of Least Effort

We are love - expressed as motion. We are love received by earth. Running is the spread of our caress through time and covered distance. It's what we give to the world. When we awaken to this truth -running is less effort and more the simplicity of giving. Who we are is endless. With so much to give there is no distance beyond our reach.
And so our run continues....

Eric

Roaming

We roam distance - an interior journey of soul and mind reflected for our steps to follow. We are the pin-point of the infinite. From the continuous reach of thought and steps we are endless. Running is the meditation of stride - each step a mantra that leads us deeper within and farther on ground. And yet in infinite sight both are in the same direction. We run to simplify our exploration. There is nowhere where we leave off and the infinite begins. So we run - unconcerned with where we're going - yet certain that we'll get there.

Eric

Trackless

Trackless - distance newly baptized by snow and waiting for our mark. The world is made again in white. We are different runners in the snow. Sounds muted and the path invites humbled steps. There is reverence here.
We leave our tracks in prayerful
wonder.

Eric

Contemplation On A Single Step

One step - and distance unfolds from its promise. We are asked to do no more. Every step contains a seed of expansion. We take the step and our world becomes a larger place. The journey begins in spirit - then thought. We need only have faith in that single step not yet taken. Running is an interior journey of a lifetime held within the promise of a step. We take the step and fulfill its promise.
Our universe expands.

Eric

The Faith Of Distance

A runner's faith is distance. There is one moment -infinitely offered. And every step is our deliverance. Running offers us this stretch of possibilities - a chance for rebirth in the course of miles. We don't see distance in terms of steps we've taken or what lies ahead - we see only the present moment offering itself in an endless fashion.
And so we follow - with just a single step.

Eric

Funny How It All Comes Together....

Running is a series of singular moments - the contact of step to ground and sky to body - only later remembered as a run. Be a witness to the miracle of all that came together to produce a single step. For that one moment we tied together earth and sky and body - and in our joy there was no doubt that we were well deserving.
And so we took another step...

Peace,
Eric

Here

No distance is ever incomplete - there is always a length of earth behind that knows our step and a stretch that forever remains ahead. We run to remain at home within the center. Finding joy exactly where we are.

Eric

The Third Entity - The Alchemy Of Running

The runner is a third entity - a new presence emerging from the marriage of self and path. There is alchemy in this becoming. Until we have given ourselves to the gold of motion there is lead within the soul. There is a formula in the becoming of a runner - a sacred ritual of steps and soul laid against the path. We are the beginning - and then the desire. A moment on the path - and our steps soon turn to gold.

Eric

Dreamed As Runners

Yes, we have dreamed the world into existence - yet we too are a dream within the minds of all that we encounter. We are a shared experience within the dreaming. The earth stretched itself out as distance and wished to know our steps. We dream ourselves as runners - eager to explore the mystery of this gift.

Eric

Running As Flight

Running is flight gifted to the ground - each step offered as a wings caress. We are meant to soar. Gravity is no more than the pull of earth's desire. We are not grounded - flight is as easily attained by stride as by wing. We chose to run and gave ourselves to the kiss of earth and gravity. One day the sky may beckon softly to the soul - and then we choose the gift of wings.

Eric

The Third Realm Of Running

Running brings us to the edge of other worlds - a third realm held between waking reality and the flight of dreams. Our steps are golden here. Miracles happen. Visions are granted. We run to reach this holy place - we run farther for the mystery to unfold.
Distance is our sacred path.

Peace,
Eric

The Creative Art Of Running

We are free to create. Running is the art of navigating illusions - in a world of infinite space we are only bound by imagination. Run as if the ground came to be in the instant before each step. We have created the moment of our foots reception. There's perfection here - the rise of earth and falling step clearly meant to meet in union. We have created ease and challenge and the grace to know the two. In recognition of our creation we offer joy and tears and the full ride of our emotions. Art is meant to stir the soul.

Eric

Actually - I Am The Center Of The Universe (and so are you)

The infinite stretches in all directions - yet we are always the pinpoint of existence. We are the ever moving center of the universe. The center of endlessness resides within the consciousness of our awareness - once we take measure of the nature of space the universe shifts in our direction. Running is a finite game played within an infinite backdrop. We run great distances to find ourselves in the middle of greater distance still. We run to know that we're the center.

Eric

Running And The Awareness of Breath

Running is the breath - life drawn from an infinite source and then returned. We are given motion as a gift of expansion. The infinite seeks to know itself through steps taken - each breath is fuel for its desire. We are in spirit and inspired and intimate with the breath. We breathe to find our place in distance - an anchor to the present step. More still- breathing is the art of allowing - of being aware of the nature of its sweep and subtle pause. We offer no interference and soon find ourselves in the rhythm of it's course - breathed and released - being of the body yet too being something infinitely more. Running is the breath. The breath is life.

Peace,
Eric

One Step Taken

No grand revelation - just a subtle shift of reference from stride to single step. It's the moment of connection. Running is a singular point of contact to earth and then air - repeated. And yet at no point are we the same as we were the step before. We have gained the world in a single step. We have touched the infinite in a foot lifted to the air. We have found acceptance in the gift of self we've given to the ground. We have been received.
One step taken -
Now nothing is the same.

Peace,
Eric

A True Language

Silence is the language of our experience - thoughts gather and give themselves to words only in the moments after. We run to hear a true language.

~
we often get lost in thought during a run - much like meditation practice. Running is a mantra of steps and there is always a moment of return when we find ourselves drawn back to present moment awareness and a true awakening occurs. Nothing is forced. We are meant to lose ourselves in thoughts of past and future in order to find ourselves again in the magic of the present. Our steps hold a key to awakening - senses coming alive in contact with the earth - we find ourselves fully present to what the Buddhist call the "suchness" of experience. If we attempt to capture this charm of enlightenment with words - we find the moment lost in our translation. The experience alone is everything. Running offers always another step - one more chance to reawaken. Distance is nothing more than the present spread before us - we are invited to participate in creation of another moment.
With each step - we answer yes.

Peace,
Eric

Creating On The Run

Our own universe - created by steps and thought and imagination. Running is the manifestation of ground for feet and air to breathe. We create beauty by our gaze. We bring solidity to the potentiality of our experience. Distance is ours to fill. Before each steps we choose creation - infinite possibilities flirt for a moment of our time. We choose one. And so it is we find ourselves in the perfection of the run.
It's our own creation.

Eric

Running With Angels

We run with angels. We are urged by subtle voices to expand past the borders of the body and give ourselves to other worlds. There are whispers heard only by the soul. We are asked to fly. Running is the soul's response in turn - the solidity of form just an anchor of illusion. In spirit we fly.

The Art Of The Run

Start from here - void of expectation - a single step. We begin with emptiness and let the landscape paint the run. The world unfolds in colors. Every sensation is a story pressed against us. We are artist with a brush of motion - giving thoughtful expression to what our steps record.

~
Sometimes we simply need to let the run find its course through the world. If we begin every run filled with expectations - we may miss the artistry of what we truly do - we weave our steps with the beauty of the world.
Creating a unique moment on the run.

Eric

It's Only Running

It's only running - and of itself it simply has no meaning. Emptiness is inherent in every step. It's the repetition of an empty act that brings the realization of our connections. The meaning of a step is to be filled with the kiss of earth beneath it. A breath drawn and given holds the meaning of the world. We can assign a personal meaning to every step and it holds true for just the moment taken - yet emptiness waits in its perfection.
It's the void that allows mystery.
We run to know ourselves as empty and to be filled with the infinite promise of the world.

Eric

Running With Language

Our steps are spoken to - the earth is a contoured language of the senses. Every moment we are told a story. We run to listen. We tell our own story through motion. It's a conversation told of beauty, grace and power. We talk through distance and the hours shared between us. It's a language filled with silence and words understood by those who listen with their heart.

Eric

Running To Dissolve

Our steps give us union. There are moments we dissolve - a meeting brief against earth and air that pulls us all together. We've returned to something larger than ourselves. Our longing to return is expressed through distance. Running is the faith of dissolution. There is a greater truth in which we belong.

Eric

Running With Stillness

We run - as if we were stillness and the world moved fast against us. Indeed, we are the still-point of existence. Even in motion we are the awareness of all that moves. Running is the art of merging form and stillness in a subtle magic. We are the becoming of a silent world of action. Running is how we get there.

Peace,
Eric
