Happily Sipping Coffee
Happily sipping Coffee:
without need of writing anything at all, no effort given to reach a sense of inspiration, my coffee at hand, content - and even these few words bring me great joy in their arrival.
I am a happy writer now.
a great change from days when I was fearful of an empty page, wondering if inspiration would show, or if I would be left without a single satisfying word after a morning's worth of writing. None of that seems to matter any longer, writing happens on it's own.
I simply write what's given.
or abide in silence.
happily sipping coffee.

The Message
The Message:
the message is my own - meaning even as it's filtered through the teachings of A Course in Miracles, or decades of studying the psychology and philosophy of yoga, it is still entirely an insight arriving past these helpful barriers and providing something unique to only me. Even if it's theme is universal. The inspiration given, the silent language of its whisper, and the words used in my translation...
those are for myself alone.
only I can share them.
and so it is for us each of us, we are all given a silent directive, a whisper from eternity that guides us on our way through life. It's inspiration, the Holy Spirit, or whatever term we wish to use. But the language of the message itself is unique to you, it's yours, and it wishes to be expressed, shared in some personal and meaningful way.
we're meant to be artist.
expressive.
listening to a holy voice as it whispers inspiration...
and then we share this with the world.

A Writer's World
A writer's world:
there's always something to write about, subjects abound, and all we ever need to do is settle our minds for an instant and inspiration is immediately received. Writing really is that simple. Yes, sometimes there might come a struggle for just the right words to arrive, or perhaps a theme no longer seems to capture our imagination and our words begin to ring hollow. Everything's a possibility in a writer's world - except for failure of inspiration to be present in our lives, always available, guiding our minds.
a writers's world is inspired...
simply by virtue of being a writer.
everything's a story to be told.
and that's the secret to writing, for all artist really, to let go of our selective demands of inspiration and allow the world and it's infinite subjects to tell us its story. Imagine the stories an empty page or blank canvas holds for such an open mind.
limitless.
if we only remember to listen.

No Other Way
No other way:
new endeavors are always challenging, frightening sometimes, especially if it's a great leap into the unknown and there's no certain outcome promised. For me, it's seeking to earn an income through means of my creativity, scary indeed, as every voice tells me of its near impossibility. Yet for some reason this is what I feel called to do, having a small platform of my own unique perspective and sharing it with the world. My goal is quite small really, earning juts enough for bills to paid, groceries bought, and perhaps buy a book or two with anything left over.
and to do this all through the means of my creative effort.
I have no idea if this is even possible.
but I'm trying now.
so I'm on the edge here, treading a line of doubt and the hopeful thought of my success. It mostly feels as if I lean towards the side of fear, there's an underlying anxiety present that quietly erodes any sense of confidence. Yet, somehow, for reasons I don't really understand, I continue on, not by faith, nor even the faint hope of succeeding on what seems an impossible goal.
I just do.
as if there's no other way of living...
than this.

Spontaneous Inspiration
Spontaneous inspiration:
if there's a struggle, it's always for the first words, the opening phrase that sets the tone for everything that follows. The reason it might seem more difficult is that I often approach the page without a clear idea of what's to be written, relying on spontaneous inspiration to guide me. And it always does, without fail, but sometimes there's still those first few moments of doubt, even after all these years, a presence of fear that whispers to me that this morning might be the point when inspiration fails to show -
and the page stays empty for the day.
of course this doesn't happen, inspiration is always present and only needs to be courted through faith and a patient wait. So it's easier for me now, I have my ritual of coffee and calm abiding sips that fill those moments with a peaceful curiosity, knowing that I can easily wait here through the course of morning, yet eager to hear those first words that inspiration might whisper.
they never fail to cause a smile...
as even if it's a familiar theme I know that every word will be freshly delivered in a way I've never heard before, bringing a brand new arrangement that offers deeper insights and meaning. That's the magic of spontaneous inspiration, it bypasses my intellectual understanding of any topic that I've been considering writing of, and leaps directly to my intuitive sense of creatively knowing exactly what's to be written. In a way, it's channeled writing, a gift received by the spirit of whatever it is that demands these early morning hours of my attention, urging me to write directly from my heart.
and through the years I've learned to listen,
relying on this spontaneous inspiration,
letting of any sense of struggle-
writing only what is hears.
