My Answer

My answer:

yesterday I was asked about my own practice, why there was suddenly health issues in play when I talk of forgiveness, prayer, meditation, and yoga. My reply was instant and straightforward, no sense giving a long explanation to a very simple query:

life.

no one is immune from whatever lesson that presents itself. Life still happens, illness, sorrow, loss and grief are part of being alive. I don't know of any spiritual master who escaped any of those issues and it doesn't seem to me that escape was their lesson to teach at all. I'm a vegan, a yogi, lifelong athlete. I teach and practice meditation and breathwork. I'm sincere in my practice.

and sometimes I get sick.

I'm pretty fortunate to largely have good health, exceptional in so many ways. Right now there's a few issues that have laid my low but physically I'm still strong and fit. Emotionally there's been a bit of a struggle but that's not entirely new. There's been addiction in my past and a history of depression. I've navigated both pretty well. Sober for over 25 years, and even through periods of depression - my life is largely joyful.

All things are lessons God would have me learn. (ACIM, W-193)

here's the thing, my simplest of answers.

my life is dedicated to forgiveness.

things happen, I don't know why, and yes, sometimes I do question them. But I know their purpose, there's a plan already in place for whenever anything occurs.

Forgive, and you will see this differently. (ACIM, W-193.5:1)

and that's my answer.

My Only Option

My only option:

I don't get to choose, not really, my only option is one of delay - do I forgive now, or do I to project my grievances onto the world and continue to suffer? That seems to be the extent of my free will, and even then it's mostly beyond my real control, as I forgive only when life has readied me to do so, broken me so completely that extended myself as love is surely my only true option.

and so with this...

no real choice.

I'm urged to forgive.

everything.

until my world is healed.

Peace, Eric

This Shade of Green

This shade of green:

with each day that first hint of green expands and grows a slight shade darker, spring is in full effect now and nature is rapidly changing, blossoming with life and beauty. I love this time of year, the quickness of this season and how it becomes measurable by the day, almost by the moment really, as a sudden rain seems to bring a flower to bloom within an instant after parting for the suns arrival. Within a week the trees will have filled out their branches with new life, a darker shade of green that eventually overwhelms me with its vibrancy.

I become so fully alive within this color.

what I most love is the contrast that it offers with the sky and the many flowers that bloom within its reach. Green is an allowing color, accompanying life in all of it's various shades. This is the color of lights absorption, nutrients soaked into a leaf and being fed to root, branch and flower. I see this shade of green and know that I am witness to life, a miracle of existence that I'll never understand but feel so deeply part of, knowing that I am a seamless expression of its continuation.

absorbing light too within each cell of my existence.

and that no matter how brief my bloom...

I had this moment in the sun.
