There is now a live link for Paypal donations should anyone be inclined to help keep this site - and the runner - running. Every little bit is greatly appreciated.

In The Absence Of Measuring

It can't be measured - as distance is the spread of a singular existence and begins and ends in steps of our imagination. The infinite is always present, and no wish will ever bring us nearer to this reality. We are the only point of reference, a self-caused duality in mystery and pleasure. To see distance as anything more than our own field of being, cast outward for exploration - is to be lost in the delusion of separation. There is no shortcut home. In the absence of measuring - we arrive.

Always Here

Always here - this allowing space, an offered freedom for all things to be in their own present moment. There is no hurry here, no rush for anything to pass, nothing is grasped, nor asked to change. The simplicity is that everything is allowed because it is found within this space. Even our desire for things to be other is perfect in design. It's accepted, welcomed, and embraced for its temporary stay. As all things are. This space is our belonging - it's who we are in our deepest presence. The thoughts of separation, our anxiety, a fear-based identity that we are not enough, all these an aspect of personality existing in our larger realm. They're not who we are, having no reality outside their moment. We can let them be - our truth is larger, always here, and allowing in its compassion.

~
Distance running is really very simple as well - it's the allowance for things to be, pleasant and often not, for whatever length of stay. Sometimes action is required, our thirst satisfied, hunger sated, feet rested, and then the run continues. Other times its best to abide in non-attached wonder - all things will pass on their own accord. Either way we remain within this open, free, allowing place that never waivers. It's who we are no matter what the length of distance run.

Eric

Passed Through

Passed through - and this our gift to the world, open, and the capacity to allow distance to flow in all directions. We are unobstructed nature, existence itself given as space for manifested form. Everything than belongs, and the need to grasp or push away is accounted for as well as again nothing is excluded. Yet in seeing this we come to the welcoming revelation of self - we are that which all things pass through, the constant ground that allows for the sweep of their caress, and the love that remains in their wake. We are passed through.

~
Even distance is manifested from our own endless, spacious capacity - and so our steps are seen not as chasing any miles but as remaining in the love that is offered in the moment.

Eric

The Art Of Pointing

It's as simple as pointing - every object has a location, form defined by its specifics, and even thoughts reside separate from each other. We point to these in regard to their state of being. They exist as known by our senses. Each one seems to stand apart from the backdrop of its surroundings. These are things that can be pointed to, described, and counted. Now continue further - our attention turned towards the pointer: there is the object we know as body, our familiar form, yet pointing still to the very source that holds this view, do we find an actual viewer? On evidence of what is seen there is nothing to be found. To keep pointing is to investigating an emptiness of allowance. We clearly won't find an object where the head should be, not by sight alone, and even touch tells only of sensations. We are headless. But we are not forsaken of identity - our pointing shows that where our head should be is the source that holds all things as one existence. Who we are is this source and once pointed out it can no longer be denied. The one thing without location, the template for objects to be, the spaciousness that connects, contours, and gives meaning to form and functions. This is who we are - and we see this in the simplicity of pointing.

~
Running brings us to amazing landscapes - and to know, to actually point in wonder not just towards the outward beauty, but also to the very source that allows this view, that removes us from mere observation to the actual participant of all creation. We are runner, and artist, but more so - we are the art as well.

Eric

Brought Near

Brought near - as if the breath of our existence draws us to an understanding. This is our world, and not a separate view seen as individuals, but an unfolding grace of one reality. Even in distance we are pressed on all sides from the infinite. In truth, we are not brought near, there is only the realization of things that can't be measured. There is no place but the center - and we are always here.

Peace,
Eric
