Opportunities

Opportunities:

sometimes it feels like there's limited options, being without a car, struggling with emotional health, particularly loneliness, and and deep uncertainty of being able to make ends meet - what I do have is a cellphone, internet connection, and a sincere desire to offer my heart to the world. So my YouTube channel has become limitless opportunity to extend love, just a small place to demonstrate my own commitment to caring for others.

sometimes, yes, options might seem limited.

and yet,

love is always the way of expansion...showing me a limitless world.

full of opportunities.

Every Loving Thought Matters

Every loving thought matters:

so we have an underlying function in life, a true world agenda in which we quietly forgive the illusion of believing the we are somehow separated from the mind of God, adrift and without connection to each other. Our purpose here is to heal the wound of this apparent separation.

and so our every loving thought matters.

forgiveness being vital.

after all...we have a function to fulfill.

That's All

That's all:

so my confession is that I don't really practice A Course in Miracles, yes, I've studied the text for decades and have gone through the workbook lessons several times and will probably do so again one day. But the truth is that I have little interest in any philosophy, and although the Course doesn't really contain a dogma to strictly adhere too, it often becomes easy to cling to any teaching as an absolute truth and close our minds to what we're actually supposed to be doing.

my only real practice is forgiveness.

the Course offers a clear and precise explanation on why and how to practice. It's Zen like in its simplicity, and similar too in how it is consistently demands our return to the moment at hand. Forgiveness is an instant meditation, a return to reality, and most importantly, opens us to the absolute truth that's offered to us right now through the presence of unconditional love.

so I simply practice forgiveness.

the Course is my reminder.

that's all.

Forgiveness Takes Us Home

Forgiveness takes us home:

so here, ego is defined as a mistaken belief that we have somehow separated from God and have gained an independent navigational system that guides us through the world. An ego limits us to the body and keeps us small in our every ambition.

it's not wrong -

but simply an illusion.

forgiveness sees right through this, heading past the ego to the still-point within and says that we are committed to  seeing each for who we truly are, and that here - our every wrongdoing is impossible. There is no sin, only belief in a mistaken thought system that has led us astray.

forgiveness takes us home.

May We Bless Each Other

May we bless each other:

I love the opportunity we provide to each other, all of us, with no chance encounters as everything is laid our perfectly to bless our meeting. There is a possibility here for what A Course in Miracles calls a Holy Instant, even on this page for whoever might read these words -

may we bless each other...

and now receive the peace of God.

Breaking Free

Breaking free:

without bypassing, accepting every thought of fear and being willing to trace it to its source - this is no easy process, frightening really, and yet right now it's what I'm called to do. But this isn't a confrontation, it's not a clash of values, nor a battle between love and fear. It's simply seeing, truly so, through every illusion that imprisons...and finally arriving to the reality that only love is real.

I'm breaking free.

with every fearful thought forgiven.

Even Now

Even now:

even now, with over 30 years of commitment to forgiveness, and I'm still amazed at how often I lapse in my practice. There are still times, many really, when I play a subtle game of hierarchy, making slight distinctions in my grievances and resentments. Mostly this occur at a subconscious level, hidden until they arrive with a fresh flash of disturbance.

but not always,

as there are some hurts that I still seem to cherish for the gift of sorrow that they offer. These are the ones that give me an identity as a long suffering martyr at the hands of others. The refrain is -"you did this to me" and I believe it so deeply that it becomes a reality to me, a psychic scar that I show proudly to the world. Of course these can be subtle too, lying just beneath the surface of current thoughts until the right trigger comes to mind and I can then use it to advantage.

even as it hurts me.

so what I see here, finally, is that I've made a special relationship with my wounds, elevated them to highest status so that I can then blame the world for all that hurts me. A Course in Miracles reminds me in Lesson 5 that there are no small upsets, they are all equally disturbing to me peace of mind. Further on it declares that I cannot keep any particular upset and let others go - again, they are all equally disturbing.

my peace of mind depends on forgiveness.

and that means everything.

I love how one lesson will sometimes and so often encompass the entire Course. There are no small upsets. Period. And if I get this, and I'm so, so close, then I am completely there, all the way to heaven, or at least I am in practice. That's the important thing to remember, constantly really, that this isn't a static, one time offering of forgiveness - it's fluid, continuous in its grace, and always available.

it's a practice,

even now.

With love and forgiveness, Eric

Invitation

Invitation;

the question posed in chapter 11 of A Course in Miracles is whether we wish to be hostage to ego or host to God, and that it's simply a matter of invitation. It's reassuring to consider that we could simply invite the Holy Spirit to respond for us in any given situation, that the default voice of ego is truly an option and doesn't have to be our sole choice of reason.

yet it seems we've entirely forgotten there's an alternative.

or that the Holy Spirit is even present within.

but the Holy Spirit is always our better option, truly our only one, as ego holds us hostage to a false identity, a collection of stories that will only rehash the past and limit us to the most familiar choices. It should be clarified here that the Course describes the Holy Spirit as the healing source of our misperception of the separation from the eternal peace of God. It's our present presence that's always available to guide us home.

it only waits for our invitation.

so in each moment, with every opportunity...

hostage,

or host?

the choice is ours.

Our True Thoughts

Our true thoughts:

the entirety of A Course in Miracles is found in every single lesson, and maybe even each line within the text. It's message is available to us now if we're only open to receive it, able to hear the voice of love speak silently, intuitively deeply to our core.

everything ties into its beautiful introduction:

nothing real can be threatened.

nothing unreal exist.

herein lies the peace of God.

that's it, the entirety of the Course and the understanding of these three sentences reverberates throughout the whole book. Here's Lesson 45 as an example: God is in the Mind with which I think, and with the understanding offered by the introduction we see that only thoughts that echo the voice of God, that express love through the language of forgiveness, are our true thoughts. Anything else is the shout of ego making itself known through expressing fear, division, or guilt.

those thoughts aren't our true thoughts.

we are not an ego.

our real thoughts, expressed from the heart-center, are firmly and only in the Mind of God. Lesson 45 urges us to listen, deeply so, past the clatter of ego to our true thoughts. Intuitively we know the difference between the false thoughts of ego and those that draw us towards the reality of love. We're just out of practice, a lifetime of ignoring our sacred voice has left us temporarily deaf to its urges.

but we know.

and each lesson, almost every line of the Course -

simply reminds us to listen.

only love is real.

any other thought...

is just an illusion belonging to the ego.

as nothing unreal exists.

herein lies the peace of God.

Unhealed Healers

Unhealed healers:

it should become apparent to us, clearly so by now, that we're unable to forgive, it's simply not our ego's function and we've given it this mistaken task. This might be hard to admit as we like to pride ourselves on our forgiving nature - and yet so often we're still left wounded, a lingering hurt, carried over through the years.

we're unhealed healers.

unable to mend ourselves or others.

but the only mistake here is in choosing the wrong healer. We've asked ourselves to perform a task we're unsuitable for and then cause even more friction within ourselves. The ego isn't meant to forgive, it's a mistake identity that has gain too much traction through our minds. It does serve a useful function though, pointing out all what's been left unhealed and how they will continuously resurface in so many hurtful ways. That's the ego's job, pointing out distinctions, showing us a world of division that's in desperate need of mending.

we're incapable of healing.

yet there is a healer within us all.

and that's the Holy Spirit, our true guide and teacher. Forgiveness is not the ego's function and that's actually glorious news. We're not ego. That's what the Holy spirit continuously whispers to us from within, giving us real identity in its quiet voice of love. Our role, our one and only job, is to turn everything over to that which always heals, forgiveness being the Holy Spirits very nature. So we're really not asked to do very much at all - to just recognize the right teacher, the aspect of ourselves that's always ready to forgive, instantly and surely.

and with that...

we're healed.

everything's forgiven.

Remembering

Remembering:

the miracle is my defense, asking for the right mind to be shown to me and trusting in the gentleness of its protection. At any moment I can ask for this, and it's so easy when things align my way. Yet in difficult times the urge remains to counter-attack, offering up the ego's plan for my salvation. Of course it doesn't work, never has in the past and remains just as ineffectual now.

asking for a miracle, a shift in perception...

and forgiveness becomes possible.

but first I have to ask for that miracle, reminding myself of the folly of the ego - and have a little willingness to let go of any resentments. I love how a near lifetime of practice comes rushing to the moment I remind myself of this, that I have all the tools of miracles at my disposal, and with simply asking for a miracle I place myself directly in the care of Holy Spirit.

it's the easiest thing to do.

as long as I remember.

and that's really the only practice needed - just a little willingness to see every attack not as a justification to prove myself worthy of defense, but that my safety lies only through forgiveness. What's important here is availability, and forgiveness is always present, forthcoming the instant it's requested. So really, it's not even about remembering...

only how long I'm willing to suffer,

before the miracle of forgiveness is requested.

A Bhakti Yogi

A Bhakti yogi:

the call is to be a Bhakti yogi of my own faith, continuously forgiving the errors of my perception, and steeped so fully in love that it's all I offer others. I'm not there yes, not even close really, but the call is strong and persistent, drawing me closer to a complete surrender.

at the very least, I am now devoted to my practice.

a Bhakti yogi is one who is drawn to the Divine, traditionally expressed through chanting and devotional acts, selfless service to others, and quiet contemplation. This is one of the four paths of yoga outlined by Krishna in the pages of the Bhagavad Gita. It's a beautiful display of love and compassion, a life worthy of consideration to those drawn to the heart of unconditional love.

as for me, I'm less traditional, a yogi of a more subtle practice. My call seems to emerge from the heart center, a softer voice than my own, and only asks that I surrender to a life of continuous forgiveness, bypassing the ego, offering love to all. It's Bhakti yoga for those who listen to the voice  the Holy Spirit, an internal guidance system that connects us to God, a personal path of pure devotion that doesn't really ask for any outward display of its practice.

I'm only called to listen,

and more then ever now...love is all I hear.

Imaginary

Imaginary:

forgiveness too is an illusion, being just a tool imagined for a very specific purpose. What this means, what it actually does - is simply and only returns us to the present moment of our invulnerability. It demonstrates that right now and always, we are immune to the idea of attack.

forgiveness is an imaginary tool that sets us free.

and liberated...

we then offer only love.

I Promise

I promise:

so my directive now is to love my way though this moment, forgiving as I go, and to change my own perception of the world all along the way. This is my perception of the world, as difficult this is to accept right now - but I have projected it in to existence and it's my role to heal my mind of all it is that disturbs it, cleansing myself of the fear surrounds me.

the responsibility is always mine.

it's a tall order, and one I'm not sure I'm actually up to - is it possible to forgive my way to a better world, to see through the illusion of so much hurt and dismay? I'll be honest, I don't know and there's a part of me that doesn't even want to try. It'a easier to blame others, and I find myself tempted to place my focus on the outer world and seek to change people, to yell at friends and neighbors to wake up before we're all consumed by our collective fear.

but I know that it will never work.

no one is healed that way.

and most certainly that's what we need, healing, individually and then collectively so. It begins with me, it always begins with me because there is nowhere else to ever go. I will heal myself of every once of fear that is projected outward to the world.

I will do my part.

I promise.

Choose Love

Choose love:

the question that I sometimes given on social media is to make a choice between Israel or Palestine, sometimes followed by why I don't discuss such issues now that I have a small platform on YouTube to share my views. And they're correct, I generally don't give my views and especially on complex geopolitical  problems that are so far beyond my understanding.

as well, the phrasing of the question leaves me without an answer.

there are no sides in suffering.

and that's our thinking right now, on so many issues, that there's an actual choice to be made against another,  believing that actual sides exist, and that compassion for all is too far fetched to even consider. I don't have an answer, at least not one that would really satisfy anyone. Yet I do know what to choose and it's a always my own personal choice of peace, not through any grand gesture, but just a quiet retreat to my deepest self and then to extend myself as love throughout the world.

one person at a time.

so for me, that's all I can do, but maybe you're much smarter and more capable than I am, and if so, than I hope you're able to play a role in bringing peace to such a troubled world. What I do know is that no change will be lasing until we each achieve a sense of true inner peace. I know that love, a true love without conditions offered, will be the only possible solution.

and it starts with you.

me too.

I'm doing my part right now, quietly so, gently, forgiving my way through the world. We teach peace individually, and it seems to take a very long time to reach others. But that's not our concern, we have an entire lifetime to spread this message. First though, and always after, it begins right now, you, me, and the love that's shared between us. Until this happens - no other peace will be achieved.

so let's begin right now.

let's choose love.

Nothing to Forgive Here

Nothing to forgive here:

forgiveness largely happens on it's own, Our only real effort is one of remembering the original innocence of this moment and allowing ourselves to stay here. That's really all forgiveness is, just the reduction of a wandering mind to those thoughts of past hurt, to keep returning again and again to the present moment until not even a husk of a painful memory remains to cause us any harm. Anything other than this only serves as a ritual for our return to the present moment -

our original innocence is always right now.

and there is nothing to forgive here.

Where Life Takes Me

Where life takes me:

it seems now - I'm much less involved in the world, and yet at once somehow more intimate with life itself, perhaps a paradox, but it feels perfectly right to me. This doesn't mean that my usual interests and the things I care for no longer meaning, they do, there's just less concerned for my personal involvement, that I don't need to add my opinion to every matter, there's no wish to make other wrong through my own demands of how I wish the world to be.

there's just no longer a need to believe I'm always right.

so I hold my views lighter now,

more gently,

surrendering, forgiving, wishing love to others.

and seeing where life takes me.
