I Wish The Same for You

I wish the same for you:

what it really does is bring to me the present moment, a zen-like freedom that offers instant liberation. I'm told in A Course in Miracles that forgiveness is the key to happiness, and my own experience confirms this repeatedly. I am happiest when I'm free, unencumbered by the weight of past judgement and long held resentments. Forgiveness is simply letting every story go, no matter how real the might narrative feels. I would rather be happy, free, truly so...

and I wish the same for you.

Decisions

Decisions:

today I will make no decisions by myself, and how freeing I'm finding these words, a declaration of freedom that's bringing a brand new sense of spontaneity and trust to my life. In chapter 30 of A Course in Miracles we're given the rules of decisions, and at first this may seem just another practice added to our spiritual list of things we need to do - yet really, once clearly understood and tried with only a little effort of remembering to check within for guidance...

it's completely freeing.

so it's with this these words each morning that I free myself of the burden of my own worst decisions. I begin the day with gratitude and then an immediate surrender. My only practice here is to remember that I am guided to the experience of love throughout the day, and if, or rather when, there is forgetfulness, my discomfort with any situation will guide me back to surrendering again. This is where the spontaneity begins - letting go of my every demand for how life should meet my ego.

and simply trusting in the unfolding gift...

a life of love now offers.

Imaginary

Imaginary:

forgiveness too is an illusion, being just a tool imagined for a very specific purpose. What this means, what it actually does - is simply and only returns us to the present moment of our invulnerability. It demonstrates that right now and always, we are immune to the idea of attack.

forgiveness is an imaginary tool that sets us free.

and liberated...

we then offer only love.

Free

Free:

my thoughts have turned back to God recently, becoming more comfortable with this loaded word and allowing myself to sink beneath concepts and belief systems, experiencing again the sense of awe that was once invoked through contemplating a universe of mystery. It's not easy to drop those previous labels, and harder still to have a meaningful conversation with anyone who still wishes to defend a particular point of view. Mostly, I don't bother, it's energy wasted.

and I have better things to do.

it's not an easy topic to write of either, and really, I'm not even sure why I am, other than these words just keep appearing and it seems to be the subject for today. I have no point to make, nothing to defend and no new thoughts to offer.

but I guess there's something for me to say here, that my experience of God is re-emerging as an undefined presence, all inclusive, and seems to be asking me to extend myself as love. I'm also being asked to forgive, not an actual request, no booming voice giving me a command, just a quiet, intuitive sense that deep forgiveness will lead me to an even greater sense of peace than ever known before. Which is amazing, as once, long ago, there was a great peace found in letting go my every thought of God. So, perhaps it's from this empty template that I begin again.

with nothing added.

no beliefs, and free of concepts.

just forgiveness,

and love.

living my life from here.

Peace, Eric

Giving Up

Giving up:

there's some wisdom in giving up, more so, there's a deep joy discovered through the act of letting go of our personal involvement with certain aspects of life. Of course this is contrary to all we're ever told, from school age on we're urged to never give up and to keep striving forward in order to get ahead and create a life worth living. But I'm talking about a different surrender here, of giving up the thoughts that keep us bound within a paradigm of false identity...

of letting go of every belief that only serves the ego.

or at least to hold them lightly.

the truth is, or so it seems to me, it that it's all made up anyway, concepts that any life is better than another keep us trapped in the illusion of gain and loss. It certainly feels better to get ahead and to have a comfortable life. Yet striving for this alone is only a hollow feeling, devoid of any true meaning, filled with counting achievements and possessions. To give this up doesn't mean to lose anything, there's no need to get rid of anything or even to necessarily change the outer appearance of our daily lives. What we do...

is simply give up the idea that we're the doer of it all.

any of it.

and that we're not really in charge of how life unfolds.

this is what the Tao urges - to give up our exclusive hold on the qualities we believe we are, and to live a life if inner simplicity, free of the concerns of the outer world. What we're asked to do is to give up concepts in order to life the actuality of life.

and in that letting go...

we discover what we truly are.

free.

Peace, Eric
