Relief

Relief:

it's a relief to know that I can't judge, not that I don't make judgement, but that not a single one made is worth of consideration. Most of my life has been a continuous judgement against myself, very often appearing in the guise of my thoughts about another - yet every single one has more truly been a value call on my own self-worth.

You have often been urged to refrain from judging, not because it is a right to be withheld from you. ³You cannot judge. ⁴You merely can believe the ego’s judgments, all of which are false. ⁵It guides your senses carefully, to prove how weak you are; how helpless and afraid, how apprehensive of just punishment, how black with sin, how wretched in your guilt. (ACIM, W-151.4:2-5)

the above words are from Lesson 151 of A Course in Miracles. Judgement is the major theme here and this lesson is designed to set us free, completely so, from the belief that we're even capable of truly judging ourselves or others. As condemnation dies down we begin to hear the quietness of the voice for God, gentle, patient, and only judging between what is real or false.

Yet you must learn to doubt their evidence will clear the way to recognize yourself, and let the Voice for God alone be Judge of what is worthy of your own belief. ²He will not tell you that your brother should be judged by what your eyes behold in him, nor what his body’s mouth says to your ears, nor what your fingers’ touch reports of him. ³He passes by such idle witnesses, which merely bear false witness to God’s Son. ⁴He recognizes only what God loves, and in the holy light of what He sees do all the ego’s dreams of what you are vanish before the splendor He beholds. (ACIM, W-151.7:1-4)

and that's where I am right now, with active doubt taking the place over the certainty of ego. Things mostly continue as they have before, my first thoughts might be a quick judgement cast upon another, or an evaluation of my own sense of worth. Ego still very often makes the first call. But Holy Spirit is the presence that always makes the last judgement and it's always in the favor of love. My peace of mind is only dependent upon how quickly I turn my thoughts of worthiness and condemnation over to the Holy Spirit and allow the voice for God to whisper truth to me. Those words echo within me, continuously, never absent - and I'm more apt than ever to listen first, closely, and give these echos my faith and full devotion.

All things are echoes of the Voice for God. (ACIM, W-151)
