A Little More Each Day

A little more each day: 

giving and receiving are the same thing, an idea often repeated in A Curse in Miracles in order to bring about the realization that we are responsible for our own salvation. Yet only through caring for others do we ever receive this gift. Everything we truly want, peace and an unwavering sense of love, safety, security, and truly healing our sense of aloneness - all of these we receive in abundance when we freely give them to others. Most of all, this is the true practice of forgiveness, for my own light to be rediscovered it must first be revealed through you. 

with no exceptions.

if anything is held back, even the slightest resentment harbored in my heart, I will remain blind to the essence of my truest self. My wish is to give freely now, fully, holding nothing back at all and allowing everyone to bask in the light of this forgiveness. 

and so I continue to give...to the best that I'm able.

a little more each day.

All I Have to Offer

All I have to offer: 

lesson 108 of A Course in Miracles brings us to a profound truth that leads us right into a powerful practice, it literally presents the end of separation between us, and puts in place the means for this realization. What I love about the Course is that a statement is made, but it's not asked to be taken as a truth without the practicality of experience. With this lesson we're told that giving and receiving are one in truth and then led through a brief meditation to know this as being of real value. This lesson has become a daily ritual for me, a continuous practice all through the day, wherever I am, and with almost every encounter as I'm able to remember. 

giving and receiving are one in truth. 

no consider what's give and that which we would most like to receive.

it's that simple.

easy.

and now offer it to another.

everyone.

all.

even those we might consider unworthy of the effort.

there is no separation between us, just one all encompassing mind liked as soul. What I project upon you is my own, all of my guilt, rage, and shame are shown to me as the world. I do not wish that for you, not for myself any longer. So what I extend to you is love, true and unconditional. I offer kindness and the purest peace imaginable. 

this too, is what I wish to receive.

and from this point on...it's all I have to offer.

Ask

Ask: 

but first I ask - for me to give anything of value I have to possess it, realizing that it's truly mine to now give away. I know with certainty my purpose in life, my dharma role I'm meant to play, and it's nothing that's been assigned to me by ego, my false sense of self and the belief system that it holds.

I am here only to be truly helpful. 

I am here to love.

I am here to forgive the world of my every illusion. 

but first I have to invite the presence of love more fully in my life, a request to Holy Spirit for loving thoughts to be recognized and then received before giving these ideas away. These are the purest thoughts of God, already and always present in my mind, yet long neglected. So I am asking the Holy Spirit to help me remember, to bring this loving presence into my awareness. 

and then once remembered...

give it all away,

completely.

but first - I have to ask.

To give: 

it's considered a cosmic lay, universal in it's application - A Course in Miracles simply states it as "what I give my brothers is my gift to me." This has now become my guidepost, an entire life's commitment, to continuously offer love for it's own return...

 and then have even more to give away.

Until Only Light Remains

Until only light remains; 

the basis is that all that I give is given to myself, Lesson 126 of A Course in Miracles, and to get this is to then know the entirety of the Course itself - giving in indeed an act of self-receiving. My purposes is forgiveness, a continuous event, and my only wish is to see myself truly forgiven. I'm not asking for any pardon of perceived sins - 

but just the light of my innocence returned to me.

and so this is what I give to others.

until only light remains.

A Circular Prayer

A circular prayer: 

so it's here, the beginning of the end, first of the last three lines, and we're given the secret to the entire prayer - we haven't just been praying for the concerns of others, no, we ourselves have been included all along. This line reveals that it is in giving that we receive, everything we've previously asked for has really been a self-request. 

we are praying for our own salvation.

we're asking for grace.

maybe it was here that I began to fall in love with this prayer, it's transformative power is shown. If I truly wish to be at pace, to know love deeply for myself, then I only have to offer it to others. To be, as Gandhi said, the change I wish to see. This is such a circular prayer, how much I can offer others is my exact return, and the more I'm able to give selflessly the greater I receive - even as my own needs are reduced through through selfless service. 

truly, this prayer is spiritual technology.

an alchemical process.

I have been transformed by the practice of this prayer, heart-touched by the living energy of Saint Francis that now work their way through me several generations from his passing. But surely his presence is alive in me, a whisper through my actions as I seek to offer only love within the world. My prayer deepens now with a wish to always do these words justice.

that I may truly give so that I may receive...

and then only give some more.

my life now being, 

a circular prayer.
